My Datsun 240z Project

Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting my blog. I have started this blog to share my restoration project on a 1971 Datsun 240z that I'm planning to buy. I plan to fix this car up so than I can have a car to go to college in. Well that being said let's start with some history on this car.
Datsun 240z
Many of you may have never heard of the name Datsun before, but you see them every day. That's because Datsun was the name Nissan gave its self here in the U.S in the 70's, because they thought that Nissan sounded too Japanese. The 240z was Nissan's first sports car ever made, even though there is speculation that a German car designer designed the 240z because it did not look like a Japanese car. It was confirmed however that the 240z was based off the Jaguar E-Type

and the Ferrari 250GTO. Inside the car there are two seats and plenty of storage in the back. The Datsun 240z came with Nissan's L24 2.4L engine which came mostly in a 4 speed manual version with very few automatics. Also included in the package was A 4 wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts in front and Chapman struts in the back. Front disk brakes and rear drums came standard with the car. All in all this car was build for performance back in it's days.

I have already started drawing what I would like to do with the car. Recently I saw this blog post about this guy that cut 3" off the roof of his Datsun and he did a lot of body work to the car and now it looks like a Ferrari. But I'm going to keep mine nice and simple....for now.
Here's one of my drawings.
